Objective

Concerned about preserving the planet, most designers no longer hesitate to use waste or upcycle materials to create furniture and lighting — even when creating bespoke furniture for a luxurious home in France. Materials distributor Module Carré and the architect firm JeudiStudio employed Polygood® for stately pieces in three separate rooms of the home, with a marvellous result.

Approach

Against creme coloured walls and light flooring, Jeudi’s founding architects Julia Lallement and Edouard Vessière along with designer Adeline Brutin used the Timeless Duo pattern for a dual-level block coffee table, a dining table nearly three metres long, and a desk with a comfortably broad overhang.

Timeless AND strong — each piece can withstand daily use and an impressive amount of weight, thanks to the panels’ thickness and sturdy 100% recycled polystyrene composition.

Even the supports are made of Timeless Duo, and we love how its black specks complement the animal print rug in the dining area.

Impact

The base colour made from refrigerators and computer mice, and the specks from black industrial tubing speak to a positive shift in interior design that has a positive impact on the environment. Wood or stone are materials that, ecologically, are not infinitely renewable. In the world of decoration, furniture, lighting, upholstery fabrics and more can be made of existing materials originally created to last.
