Beaurepaire flat, Pantin

Objective
French architects Atelier Apara set out to give a makeover to a 72m2 flat in postmodern Pantin, in the suburbs of Paris. A harmony between existing materials like the old woodwork and concrete — and a conscious choice for recycled materials — were paramount in their approach.
Approach
Originally as two separate spaces, the kitchen and the living room did not provide a pleasant dining space. The dividing wall was knocked down, leaving room for a friendly island as well as through-light. Designers chose a pristine white Polygood® pattern for the comma-shaped island and the fresh kitchen worktop. It also forms the fold-out desk tucked away in the elegant mahogany cabinetry.
