Material Alchemists

Objective
As part of Material Alchemists: Class of ’25 – a Wallpaper* exhibition during Milan Design Week 2025 – The Good Plastic Company was invited to create display plinths that reflect the forward-thinking ethos of the show. The goal was to support next-generation design talent with a material solution that embodies both visual sophistication and circularity.
Approach
Polygood® panels were used to fabricate a series of plinths in various sizes across the exhibition. All plinths were manufactured in the Fleur de Sel pattern – calm yet striking white panels with tiny specks, made from discarded refrigerators. This subtle texture highlights the beauty and aesthetics of recycled plastic, offering a clean, consistent surface that visually supports the objects on display. After the event, the panels were returned to The Good Plastic Company’s factory and recycled via our take-back programme, made possible thanks to the single-material composition of Polygood®.
Impact
More than three tonnes of plastic were reused in this project — all of which were recycled again after the exhibition. By providing a low-carbon, recyclable display system, Polygood® helped close the loop on material use in a temporary yet high-profile installation at one of the design industry’s most visible international events.
