Le Panoramique Mer de Glace

Name:
Le Panoramique Mer de Glace
Collaboration:
Joséphine Balayn, Atelier PlaceTic
Industry:
Hospitality
Country:
France

Objective

At a 1900 meter altitude (6400 ft), this is the highest use of Polygood® yet.

Le Panoramique Mer de Glace restaurant perched high in Chamonix in the French Alps has breathtaking views of the majestic yet fragile Mer de Glace glacier — an apropos place for designer Joséphine Balayn to use a material conscious of nature and her bounties.

Approach

Custom table tops, shelves, and counters are made with Polygood®, our 100% recycled and recyclable material. The Marbellous pattern, with its contemporary terrazzo style, brings subtle elegance while maintaining environmental responsibility.

Impact

This snow-white bistro, fully glazed to showcase the mountain setting, is built like an ice crystal resting atop the mountain and used 230 kg (507 lbs) of repurposed plastic from recycled refrigerators.

Each piece, custom-made in collaboration with Polygood France and Atelier PlaceTic, reflects our commitment to sustainable, quality design.
