Count Energy Trading Headquarters

Objective

Count Energy Trading is a driving force in the transition to more sustainable energy solutions within the petrochemical industry. That includes how it renovated its 1000 m² open workfloor at their head office in Rotterdam. 

The firm wanted a sustainable interior with a high-end look that optimises all the comforts that facilitate hybrid working.

Approach

Our Polygood® patterns Sea Foam Dark and Terrazzo Nuovo bring circular design to life in this renovation, chosen by Studio Biek as chic surfaces for the boardroom table top and the curvy sustainability lab counter accented with ground lighting.

The choice complements the industrial look achieved in the open workspace’s coffee bar, pitch room, sustainability lab and lounge, which Biek connected with the adjacent offices and meeting rooms.

Impact

In addition to choosing Polygood®, made from 100% recycled keyboards, refrigerators, and other post-consumer plastic, the project’s additional sustainable applications include:

• The partition wall was finished with wood from Rotterdam trees uprooted by storm damage.
• The coffee bar includes a sustainable cast floor mixed with flakes of used plastic.
• The wallpaper was made from hop plants and finished the walls with felt made from recycled clothing textiles.
• The conference table in the brainstorming room is made of a laminate of bio-resin with pressed old jeans.
• Designers reused as much existing furniture as possible.
